Real Madrid are preparing a fresh attempt to sign Ajax midfielder Abdellah Ouazane.

The move to Madrid was fully agreed back then but fell through due to a failed medical. Shortly after, Ouazane extended his contract with Ajax until the summer of 2028. This season he has made twelve appearances in all competitions, scoring once against SC Heerenveen and registering three assists in UEFA Conference League qualifying. He has been used primarily as a left winger by manager Michel Sanchez.

"Real Madrid are observing developments, studying daily reports and preparing a strategic move," an Italian outlet reported. The Madrid club's aim is to secure the midfielder before his market value soars, giving coach José Mourinho a future asset.

For Ajax, the challenge is to retain the talented player for as long as possible. Sanchez needs to find a way to give Ouazane more minutes in a side currently sitting fifth in the Eredivisie with fourteen points. Julian Brandt is the top scorer this season with four goals. The most recent result was a 2-2 home draw with Excelsior.

Ouazane is currently with the Moroccan national team for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He could make his debut in the match against Gabon on Friday 25 September. His progress is being closely monitored by other top clubs as well. Ajax, meanwhile, are scouting potential additions themselves, such as 15-year-old Ilyas Houira at FC Copenhagen.

The next club fixture is at home to NEC Nijmegen on 10 October. The full squad and fixtures schedule are available on this site.
