Ajax' transfer priorities
Ajax aims to sign four players in the final weeks of the transfer window, but faces hurdles. Replacing Mika Godts is a priority, but Noa Lang is no longer a target. Italian media report Ajax has withdrawn from the race for the winger, with Atalanta as his most likely destination. A new right winger and centre-back are also priorities, but the search is hitting a wall.
Stumbling block in signings
According to Mike Verweij on the Kick-Off Podcast, players are reluctant to move to Ajax. 'Ajax has to sign four players in a week and a half,' Verweij said. Players want to wait for a club from a bigger league that plays in the Champions League. Only if that doesn't happen will they consider Ajax or PSV. Verweij emphasizes Ajax must focus on players who choose Ajax without hesitation, not those waiting for a 'better' league.
Ajax' dilemma
The situation with Noa Lang is complex. Although Ajax has offered him, a transfer to Atalanta is possible with a fee of €20-25 million. Verweij highlights that this is not an option. Leon Bailey is still in the race, but interest in the Conference League is low. Jordi Cruijff must make quick decisions to maintain club culture. The search for new players remains a challenge in the final phase of the transfer window.
