Karim El Ahmadi has identified Abdellah Ouazane as a future cornerstone for AFC Ajax. The former Feyenoord and Twente midfielder praised the 17-year-old Moroccan after his substitute appearance against Excelsior on the show Dit Was Het Weekend.
"It has been a long time since I have seen a player with such qualities," El Ahmadi said. He highlighted the teenager's stature, ball control and acceleration. Ouazane came on during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Excelsior and made an immediate impression. "I think this is the boy Ajax will soon be built around," the analyst added. He noted the youngster can sometimes be too frivolous but masters the fundamentals.
The midfielder, who also attracted interest from Real Madrid, can operate in the centre or on the left. His performance comes as Ajax sit fifth in the Eredivisie with fourteen points.
For the long term, the squad overview provides insight into all the talents at the Amsterdam club's disposal.
