Ajax Lineup: Míchel Sánchez Makes Changes, Marc van der Stegen Makes His Debut

AFC Ajax head coach Míchel Sánchez implements a few changes in the starting line-up for their opening Eredivisie game of the season. Several names are introduced to the Amsterdam-based team for the first match against PEC Zwolle. Dutch goalkeeper Marc van der Stegen makes his debut, replacing Maarten Paes.

There wasn't much reason for change after Ajax's 3-1 victory over Shelbourne on Thursday. The entire game was a dominant performance by Ajax in their own Johan Cruijff Arena. In Zwolle, several new faces get the chance to showcase themselves. So does Marc van der Stegen, who takes up the goalkeeper position from Maarten Paes.

For Julian Brandt, another German player, there's no place in the starting lineup yet. Míchel opts for Youri Regeer, Oscar Gloukh, and Davy Klaassen on the midfield. Caio Henrique makes his Eredivisie debut as a left-back, taking over from Owen Wijndal. Beside him are Lucas Rosa, Aaron Bouwman, and Youri Baas.

No changes in attack. Míchel sticks with Steven Berghuis, Kasper Dolberg, and Mika Godts. The Belgian left-winger could potentially move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer but as long as the French champions don't offer Ajax what they desire, he continues to shine in red and white.

Ajax Lineup: Ter Stegen; Rosa, Bouwman, Baas, Henrique; Regeer, Klaassen, Gloukh; Berghuis, Dolberg, Godts.
