Ajax need not fear Vojvodina: 'Super Liga at Faroe Islands level' AFC Ajax can look forward to the Conference League qualifier against FK Vojvodina with confidence, according to Radoslav Samardzic. The former Vojvodina, FC Volendam, SC Heerenveen and Feyenoord striker believes the Serbian league has declined significantly. League standing: 6th in Eredivisie, 0 pts. ## What does the Vojvodina icon say? Samardzic, who scored prolifically for Vojvodina in the 1990s, compares the Super Liga to the leagues of the Faroe Islands, Malta and Iceland. 'These are now just difficult games for Serbian clubs,' he says. 'Even when entry is free, fans stay away. People would rather be in a betting shop.' ## How did the previous meeting go? In the last encounter in the Johan Cruijff Arena in 2024, Branco van den Boomen scored the only goal in the 86th minute. Samardzic: 'I don't know who was worse. A club like Dinamo Zagreb would have won by two or three goals.' ## What does this mean for Ajax? According to Samardzic, the level of the Serbian league has only declined further since then. 'Ajax really has nothing to fear,' he emphasizes. 'Vojvodina is doing its best, but when you play at such a low level every week, it becomes difficult.' Currently sidelined: Kasper Dolberg. Ajax starts the new season in 6th place in the Eredivisie without any goals scored. The club can now focus on the Conference League, where Vojvodina does not appear to be a major threat.
