AFC Ajax travel to Fortuna Sittard on Saturday evening looking to erase the memory of their derby defeat. John van 't Schip's side lost 1-3 at home to rivals PSV last weekend and now sit eighth in the Eredivisie with seven points from four matches.

The last meeting between the two clubs, in February this year, ended in a 4-1 victory for Ajax in Amsterdam. Fortuna Sittard currently occupy sixth place, one spot and two points ahead of the Amsterdam side. The Limburg-based team are in good form with wins over ADO Den Haag and FC Groningen in their last two league outings.

Lineup and injuries

Van 't Schip is likely to rely on his usual core again. The starting eleven against PSV included goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, defender Anton Gaaei and attackers Steven Berghuis and Tolu Arokodare, who scored the lone goal. The coach must still decide on any changes following the disappointing performance. The full squad list and current injury status can be found on the squad page.

Ajax have worked hard this week at De Toekomst to improve their defensive organisation. Conceding five goals in four league games is a concern. The attack is functioning, with nine goals scored. The upcoming schedule is available to view in the fixtures.

The match in Sittard kicks off at 20:00 on Saturday. A win could push Ajax back towards the European places, as they currently trail leaders AZ Alkmaar by eight points. The live league table can always be followed on the standings.
